Human Anti Doping

Within any sport Anti-Doping is a critical part, not only for athlete safety but to ensure fair competition.

In Equestrian Sports we have 2 athletes to consider; Human and Equine.  Human antidoping is via UKAD and equine antidoping under FEI.

We've put together a selection of resources and videos that are really useful for athletes at all levels.

Human Anti - Doping

UKAD is in charge of Human Anti-doping and education in the UK.

They have 11 Anti Doping Violation Rules.

All 11 apply to athletes,  7  also apply to athlete support personnel (Orange & Red), 5 also apply other persons (Red).

  • Presence
  • Use or Attempted Use
  • Evading, Refusing or Failing to Submit to Sample Collection
  • Whereabouts failures
  • Possession
  • Administration or Attempted Administration
  • Tampering or Attempted Tampering
  • Trafficking or Attempted Trafficking
  • Complicity or Attempted Complicity
  • Prohibited Association
  • Acts by an Athlete or Other Person to Discourage or Retaliate Against Reporting to Authorities

UKAD developed education programmes for Athletes, Coaches and Support Personnel.

We highly recommend to all athletes, parents and coaches that they complete the programme. It's free to do and talks you through all aspects of Human Anti Doping

100% Me is an App where you can check Medications against the Global DRO database, which will show Controlled and Banned Substances.  You can Download on Apple or Google Stores for free.

Remember to screenshot your search as evidence!

Supplements are not under the same labelling rules as medications. If you take supplements be sure to keep a record of batch numbers and check the Informed Sport database. We always recommend a 'Food First' approach to nutrition but understand why athletes may decide to use supplements.

Here's a video detailing the process of The Testing Procedure from UKAD.
